The year 2024 will represent a noteworthy achievement for our organization. The upcoming event organized by Boston Lesbigay Urban Foundation holds significance as it not only commemorates its fifth consecutive year but also signifies a pivotal moment in the establishment and revival of "Boston Black Pride”. The act of changing the name is not only superficial, but rather a deliberate effort to reclaim our initial vision and reinforce our dedication to empowering and appreciating the perspectives of both the younger and older generations within Boston's Black, Latino, and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ community.
Nevertheless, it is important to acknowledge that this process has been a protracted endeavor. Initially, our intention was to employ the phrase "Boston Black Pride" as a means to denote our pride-related activities. Regrettably, this appellation had already been allocated to another collective. Consequently, the alternative selected was "Boston Urban Pride." Currently, we are engaged in the endeavor of regaining our initial vision and we want your support in standing in solidarity with us. The organization is now undergoing a transformation, shifting its focus from "Boston Urban Pride" to "Boston Black Pride." This name change is intended to better align with the organization's dedication to honoring and empowering the black, Latino, and indigenous LGBTQIA+ community in Boston.
